Celebrate LGBTQIA+ History Month in Stamford
Stamford Pride’s Annual LGBTQIA+ History Month Art Show is an exhibition showcasing and selling artwork in celebration and support of the LGBTQIA+ community. The show is open to artists of all backgrounds, working in any medium, and at any stage in their practice.
This year’s exhibition is a collaborative initiative led by Stamford Pride in partnership with our artists, and numerous venues across the City of Stamford. The exhibit seeks to amplify marginalized voices and offer a safe, visible, and affirming platform for LGBTQIA+ community members and allies to share their stories through art. In today’s climate, that visibility is more crucial than ever.
As part of Stamford Pride’s Second Annual History Project—which documents and celebrates the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies who have lived, worked, played or prayed in Stamford—we are especially interested in artwork that reflects queer experiences and history.
Preference will be given to artists who identify as LGBTQIA+, work inspired by the Stamford Pride History Project and to art that reflects Stamford Pride’s 2026 theme of Inclusion.

Artists and host sponsors will be introduced upon match to visit the host sponsor site and determine the number and size of artwork pieces that can be displayed, hanging requirements, best date and time for installation of the art (before October 1) and deinstallation (after October 31), etc.

In keeping with our commitment to uplifting and investing in the creative journeys of LGBTQIA+ artists and allies, Stamford Pride’s Art Show awards are designed to support professional development. Winners will be selected by our jury based on artistic merit, originality, and thematic connection.
A one-on-one studio visit or portfolio review with a professional, established artist (TBD), offering personalized feedback, career guidance, and networking opportunities.
A portfolio consultation with a gallery curator or art professional, including tailored advice for exhibition opportunities and presentation strategies.
A virtual or in-person artist-to-artist critique session, designed to provide constructive feedback and foster connection with a fellow working artist in the field.
Awarded at the discretion of the jury in recognition of notable artistic achievement. (No prize is attached.)
Selected by public vote and announced at the close of the exhibition. (No prize is attached.)

Artists of all backgrounds, experience levels, and career stages are encouraged to apply. Sponsoring host venues will select the artist (s) and artwork they wish to exhibit.
Artists under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. All submitted artwork must have been created within the past three years.
Host venues are primarily equipped to display wall-mounted artwork. Consideration of digital projections, video, audio, and live or recorded performance art will be at the discretion of the individual host venue.
Artwork must be wired and ready to hang.
Unframed canvas pieces must have painted edges.
Maximum framed size: 36″ x 48″
Glass is not permitted; Plexiglass or other shatter-resistant glazing is acceptable.
Artists must disclose any use of AI in the creation of their artwork and briefly describe how it was used.
